As a homeseller, when you vacate the property, the house should be left clean for the new homeowners.
While you don't necessarily have to get the carpets professionally cleaned unless it's a term of the contract, you should ensure the carpets are vacuumed really well, the floors are washed, baseboards wiped down, appliances cleaned inside and out and the bathrooms cleaned and sparkling.
While the buyers will most likely do their own cleaning when they move in, it's still common courtesy to leave the property in the same condition you would want your new home to be left in by the previous owners.
