Buying your next home
When purchasing a home, you are faced with so many decisions! What area you want to buy in, what style of home you want, your must haves for your new home and, how much you want to spend. The primary factor is whether you are actually in a position to purchase a home. Finding your dream home is not always easy, and obtaining a mortgage can be stressful and sometimes difficult.
However, once you go through the steps of obtaining your mortgage pre-qualification and you get the 'go-ahead' from your mortgage lender, the home buying process can be very exciting.
My job as your buying REALTOR® is to assist you and guide you during each step of the home buying process. This makes the entire process less stressful for you, less time-consuming and most importantly, enjoyable!
I am always familiar with the current homes on the market and I know neighbourhood values well, so I can help you determine which properties are fairly-priced and in good condition before you start your search.
What to do first
Your first step to buying a home is to determine why you're buying? Real Estate has long been viewed as an appreciating asset. So perhaps you want to buy real estate so that you don't have to pay rent and you can build equity for yourself and your family. Maybe you are expecting a baby or have a family that you need more space for. Perhaps you are now an empty nester and need less space. There are many legitimate reasons to purchase a home, but this is the first step in the home buying process so you can determine what kind of home you want to buy.
Now that you have determined why you're buying, you can focus on what you're buying. You can get more specific. This could include the location (city, suburban neighbourhood), community (north, south, east, or west side), which neighbourhood (more mature community or a newer development), a particular school zone, distance to employment for commuting. What's important to you and what kind of lifestyle are you looking for?
What style of home will work for you? How much space do you need? Do you want all the bedrooms on a separate level? If so, a two-storey would be a good option. Do you want less stairs? Then perhaps a bungalow is a better fit. How big of a yard do you need for your family? These are all things to consider before starting your home search.
Step 2: Mortgage Pre-Qualification
